UK Cover Reveals: Between by Jessica Warman, Hallowed by Cynthia Hand, Vixen by Jillian Larkin and Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.

There have been so many UK cover reveals lately that I just can't keep up.  I haven't been able to include everything here, but I have included some of my favourites.  All of these are quite different to their US counterparts, so tell me which covers you prefer.

*******************

This is the final cover for Between by Jessica Warman.  I was super excited to receive a surprise proof of this one in the post last week as I've wanted to read it for ages.  I previously featured the UK cover of this one on here, but it's changed since then.  I have to say I love both covers, but I've been told that this cover fits the story better than the original cover did. I can't wait to get reading it!

Between by Jessica Warman
Publisher: Egmont Books Ltd.
Release date: October 2010.
Ages: 12+

Only the good die young. Right? Elizabeth Valchar has it all: friends, money, beauty, a cute boyfriend and assured popularity. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she is found drowned next to her parents' boat. Everyone thinks it was a tragic accident - teens drinking on a boat, a misstep leading to a watery death. But Liz is still here after death, and she doesn't know why. There are gaps in her memory. Her only company Alex, a boy killed by a car a year earlier, Liz sets out to piece together her life. But their small coastal town is hiding many secrets - about families, boyfriends and friendship. Plus, Alex hates Liz for being mean when they were alive. Was she as squeaky clean as she thinks she was? Could it be that she herself is hiding the biggest secret of all? Can Liz discover the truth? And if she does, who can she tell? An engrossing, compelling thriller that peels back the layers of small-town life to expose true, ugly, cruel human nature

Cynthia Hand revealed the UK cover for Hallowed on her blog yesterday.  It's very different to the US cover so I'd love to know which one you prefer.  This is Christian on the cover, by the way, and I'm glad that there's going to be a lot of Christian in this book.  I know everybody else is Team Tucker, but I pretty much fell for pretty boy Christian from day one. You can read my review of Unearthly if you don't believe me! ;) I can't wait to read Hallowed! The countdown is on!

Hallowed (Unearthly #2) by Cynthia Hand
Publisher: Egmont Books Ltd.
Release date: January 2012
Ages: 13+

For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought. Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

Did you know that Vixen by Jillian Larkin is releasing in the UK? Yes, it is! It's not out until next March, and so this cover is subject to change, but it's up on Amazon now so I figured it was OK to post it here. I love the flapper style on the cover of this one, but overall I just about prefer the US covers for this series.

Vixen by Jillian Larkin
Publisher: Corgi Childrens
Release date: March 2012
Ages: 12+

Every girl wants what she can’t have. Seventeen-year-old Gloria Carmody wants the flapper lifestyle—and the bobbed hair, cigarettes, and music-filled nights that go with it. Now that she’s engaged to Sebastian Grey, scion of one of Chicago’s most powerful families, Gloria’s party days are over before they’ve even begun . . . or are they?

Clara Knowles, Gloria’s goody-two-shoes cousin, has arrived to make sure the high-society wedding comes off without a hitch—but Clara isn’t as lily-white as she appears. Seems she has some dirty little secrets of her own that she’ll do anything to keep hidden. . . .

Lorraine Dyer, Gloria’s social-climbing best friend, is tired of living in Gloria’s shadow. When Lorraine’s envy spills over into desperate spite, no one is safe. And someone’s going to be very sorry. . . .

And finally...the beautiful new UK cover for Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I've been hearing all sorts of amazing things about this book. I've been reliably informed that the finished will come complete with foiling effect for extra fabulousness! Here's the US cover. They both stand out as they are very different from the  usual YA covers, but I'm going for the UK cover as my winner.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton
Release date: September 2011
Ages: YA

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers—beautiful, haunted Akiva—fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

  2. The UK cover for Hallowed is good! When I read Unearthly I imagined Christian as a Chace Crawford/Zach Efron type, but this guy works just as well! :)

  15. I like that the cover of Vixen is black and white with just a little reddish pink for contrast. I don't think enough covers make use of simplicity. Though, I suppose if they did, this cover wouldn't stand out so much.
