I haven't read an angel book in a while (not since Hallowed, I think). It seems to me like I was reading a whole lot more angel books last year than I am now, but I will be checking Immortal City out. Hot angel boys! Yay!
Have you read this one? What did you think of it?
Immortal City by Scott Speer
Publisher: Scholastic UK
Release date: April 5th 2012
Ages: 12+
Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them. He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect - everyone except for Madison Montgomery.
Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.
Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat … and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson.
I've read it! Unfortunately, it wasn't really a memorable read for me but I thought it was interesting how Scott Speer made angels celebrities. That was certainly different.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame! I thought it sounded like fun - the premise reminds me a little bit of when Anne Rice made her vampire Lestat a rock star! (although I know we're dealing with angels here, not vamps!) ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh love the trailer! I have this one on my TBR and can't wait to start it now!
ReplyDeleteI ordered my copy two days ago I'm so excited to read this book. Absolutely love the trailer.
ReplyDeleteLove the trailer too. It looks like fun! I need to order a copy soon, for sure! I've been reading some mixed reviews on Goodreads though, so I'll be interested to hear what you think!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm looking forward to this one! It sounds like fun. I am more hopeful about angel books ever since Unearthly, Mercy, and Angel Burn came along.

ReplyDeleteThis is a new-to-me read....I definitely could go for an angel read right about now and love, LOVE the trailer- such a unique premise.
ReplyDeleteI love love LOVE the trailer. Which is quite surprising, since I don't usually don't like book trailers. But I have to admit, this one is quite something! I wasn't that excited for he book, but since I saw the trailer, it's in my soon to read list :)
ReplyDeleteBook trailers can be very hit and miss with me too! I think this one is great - it makes me want to read the book even more than I already did (always the sign of a good book trailer!) :)
ReplyDeleteI love Unearthly & L.A Weatherly's Angel series, so I'll have to check out Mercy. Haven't read that one! :)
ReplyDeleteJust read a review on this one. Although, I'm sick of angel stories this sounds awesome.
