Ever since I heard about The Scorpio Races, Maggie Stiefvater's new standalone paranormal YA novel, I've been totally intrigued. We learned that out of all the novels Maggie has written, this is her personal favourite. We also learned that the book features 'blood, beaches and kissing', but until now, we hadn't heard much else...
This week, the UK cover popped up on Amazon (no sign of the US cover art just yet). So, what do you think? While I like the cover, it's not one of my all time favourites. For me, it's a little too similar to the UK cover of Lament. I was expecting something just a bit different for this one, but I have to say, I'm still very excited to read it!
The Scorpio Races will be published in the US and UK in October 2011 by Scholastic.
With her trademark lyricism, Maggie Stiefvater turns to a new world, where a pair are swept up in a daring, dangerous race across a cliff--with more than just their lives at stake should they lose.
"Blood, beaches and kissing " - Sounds exciting!;)
ReplyDeleteThe cover is interesting, but it's not very impressive.
Yeah this may be an example of "dont judge a book by its cover." It sounds like a great read and after having read Shiver Im sure it will be:)
ReplyDeleteOMG. A standalone. Total win.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait! Thanks for sharing... Wonder how the US cover will look like.
I really like elements of the cover (the horse, some of the swirls) but overall I don't really like this cover. It looks too cluttered and I think a color other than red would have been better. I also don't like the title font. At least this isn't the version I'd be buying (if I even read it. I DNF-ed Shiver). I love that it's a standalone!
ReplyDeleteYeah, not blown away by that cover. ;)
ReplyDeleteOoooo I had no idea she had a new paranormal book coming out! Can't wait to read this now, thanks so much for sharing Leanna, I can always count on you to be up on all the latest bookish news:)
ReplyDeleteWhile Shiver and Linger are not my favorite books, I do love Maggie's prose and I also love the fact that this is a stand alone novel. Hope to see it in the US soon.
ReplyDeleteNot crazy about the cover, but looking forward to the book!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I saw the US cover over at BOOKS AT MIDNIGHT and it looks much better than the UK one :(
ReplyDeleteI think it is kind of cool, but a little too busy. The US cover makes me think epic fantasy type of book. I love Maggie so I’m sure it will be awesome no matter what :)
ReplyDeleteIt was full of action and kept me
ReplyDeleteso interested that I couldn't stop reading all night! Best for teens and
horse lovers with a big heart. Hope u enjoy :)
