Here are a few of my non-bookish faves from a wet and windy May 2015.
I've been reading a lot of psychological thrillers this year, and it's Game of Thrones season so my TV time is pretty dark and twisted too. Time to lighten things up a little, I thought to myself one day, and went searching for something a little light and happy happy on Netflix. I found this movie, and thought I couldn't go wrong. Well, Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen star, so what more could you ask for, really? Nothing groundbreaking, I guess, but Life Partners is cute and it's funny and it was just what I was looking for. I liked it a lot!

Everest Granola Cups - I have been addicted to these Granola Cups lately. They come in three flavours: Apple & Cinnamon, Raspberry and Natural Honey - I have tried all three and I can't pick a favourite. I love them all. Dee-licious! Everest Granola is an Irish company so you may not be able to get these where you are, but if you're visiting Ireland, and need some good food on the go, I suggest you try one of these. The Granola is top-notch (almonds, coconut, pecans, cranberries, jumbo oats and more) and the pots are bigger than your average pot of granola. Le yum.
Here's an up close shot of an Everest Granola Cup shortly before I ate it all up!

As you may or may not know, I love a good face mask, and this one, the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask has been on my radar for a long time. Thing is, this mask is so popular that every time I try to buy it, it's completely sold out. Thankfully I was able to pick up this dinky little set of masks-to-go on a recent beauty shop. Each set contains four travel-size pods and it's a great way to check out this product before you invest in the full size. As for me, I'm a big fan of this. It's a great mask for a weekly deep-skin clean. I may do a full review of this one soon - and I will be investing in the full size product, once I can get my hands on it!
Another beauty favourite of mine (and a forever repurchase) this month is Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex II (to give it its full title!). One thing I never skimp on beauty wise is eye creams - and this may be pricey - but it's totally worth it.

One of my favourite blog features (on one of my favourite blogs), Summer Kickoff has been taking place over on Confessions of a Book Addict this past month. If you haven't yet check this out, you really should. It's a one-stop-shop for all your summer/holiday reading - and Christina has some pretty great giveaways going on too!
There's also a little guest post from me where I (along with a bunch of other bloggers) share what I'll be reading this summer. Check it out here.

I've been on the lookout for a new show to get me through a long summer without my Shonda shows. Netflix chose Friday Night Lights as a top pick for me a while back, but I didn't think this was for me due to the focus on (American) Football, which I have zero knowledge of. However, one night last week, I decided to check this out, and what can I say, I'm hooked. I'm only half-way through the first season, but FNL was pretty much love at first sight for me - and now that I've done a little research on the whole football thing, I totally find the games exciting too. Full disclosure: I had to look up how many points are awarded for a touchdown. Don't laugh! We don't watch American Football in Ireland. Well, at least I don't.
Tim Riggins a.k.a My Favourite Thing of the Month! |
Also, I am totally in love with Tim Riggins. Anyone else? I'm not sure if FNL ever aired over here (maybe it did and I just didn't see it at all) but I totally recommend you check it out. All five seasons are on Netflix.

Love this! Thanks so much for sharing my Summer Kickoff Feature. I appreciate it. :) Also, I need to check out that movie. I love both Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen....can you believe they are married and having a baby?! I love that. I also am a little envious about that yogurt. I wonder if they will have it over here. You guys always have the best stuff over there! It looks delicious. Also, I am so, so pumped that you love FNL. It's one of my favorite TV shows ever. I think the writing is top-notch and I love the relationship between Tami and Coach Taylor-one of my favorite TV marriages. Plus, RIGGINS! *swoon*
ReplyDeleteNo problem. Love the Summer Kickoff feature! :) Yes - I love Seth and Blair together! Ha! I saw Tim Riggins and was all like 'Where have you been all my life!' I think even if I didn't love FNL at first watch, I'd still be watching just for him. Yes, I am totally that shallow!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the same way recently, in need of a bit of sweet after all the psychological thrillers I love to read! That's why I decided to follow your blog when I found it, I think. I've also had Friday Night Lights recommended to me. Sounds like I should check it out.
ReplyDeleteLeanna, I so need something to fill the void left with no Shonda shows being around so thanks for the heads up on the shows and films which have caught your attention lately. And how delicious does that Everest Granola Cup look? I need to see if I can track some down over here!
ReplyDeleteThe granola cups look yum. I will have to see if we have them up North here. I got a charcoal mask.last month an Avon one and it was really good for the price of it. I need a new.series.to watch will have to.check out Friday Night Lights.

FNL is definitely not perfect - especially not in season 2 when it was affected by the writers strike - but I am on season 3 now and still really enjoying it! Hope you do too if you decide to check it out!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you do! Those Granola cups are so good!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Riggins. Love at first sight! I really like Matt too - he is a total sweetheart! :) I'm on season 3 now!
ReplyDeleteFNL is definitely worth a watch. I'm on season 3 already - so I'll be on the lookout for another new show soon! :D
