In case you missed the cover reveal on the Atom Books Blog last week, here in all its glory is the UK cover for The Diviners by Libba Bray. Isn't it gorgeous?! I seriously can't wait to read this one!
The Diviners by Libba Bray
Publisher: Atom
Release date: September 18th 2012
Ages: 15+
It's 1920s New York City. It's flappers and Follies, jazz and gin. It's after the war but before the depression. And for certain group of bright young things it's the opportunity to party like never before.
For Evie O'Neill, it's escape. She's never fit in in small town Ohio and when she causes yet another scandal, she's shipped off to stay with an uncle in the big city. But far from being exile, this is exactly what she's always wanted: the chance to show how thoroughly modern and incredibly daring she can be.
But New York City isn't about just jazz babies and follies girls. It has a darker side. Young women are being murdered across the city. And these aren't crimes of passion. They're gruesome. They're planned. They bear a strange resemblance to an obscure group of tarot cards. And the New York City police can't solve them alone.
Evie wasn't just escaping the stifling life of Ohio, she was running from the knowledge of what she could do. She has a secret. A mysterious power that could help catch the killer - if he doesn't catch her first.

Oooo I like the UK cover much better! The colors are gorgeous and it has that 1920's feel to it I think with the skyline and the woman's figure in front. The US cover is okay, they both have the eye which is obviously important, but the UK one I think is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really like both. I can't choose...
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer the US cover slightly, but I do really like the UK one! Can't wait to read it, the book sounds awesome.

ReplyDeleteSO PRETTY! I think both covers are absolutely gorgeous but may prefer the UK one.
ReplyDeleteWow, they are so similar! I like bits of both covers. I like the US background more, but I like the UK title treatment better. I can't WAIT to read this book! I am a sucker for books on fortune tellers, spiritualism and the like:)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I think I like the UK cover more!! It all just flows better and looks prettier. Which, yay for me, will likely be the Australian cover too :) I am so, so, SO excited to get my hands on this! I absolutely loved Beauty Queens and Going Bovine by Libba, so I have no doubt this will be a favourite too :D
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty, but definitely like the US one more!

ReplyDeleteI've never read her before even though I have a bunch of her books on my TBR. Hope I love this one! :)
ReplyDeleteI think the UK cover is the winner with the flapper girl on the front. Perfect and goes along with the story. :)
