Launching with The Raven Boys in September 2012, The Raven Cycle is a new four book series from the uber-talented Maggie Stiefvater. One of my very first blog posts was about Maggie and her at-that-time new book deal. Back then I was new to YA and Maggie's book Shiver was one of the very few YA books I had read, along with some Stephenie Meyer, Alyson Noel and Becca Fitzpatrick - that was it. How times have changed!
I'm excited for this one - it sounds pretty great, and a little different too. And check out the great cover. Do you love it?
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.Publisher: Scholastic Inc.Release date: September 2012.
Filled with mystery, romance, and the supernatural, The Raven Boys introduces readers to Richard “Dick” Campbell Gansey, III and Blue Sargent. Gansey has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on the hunt to find Glendower, a vanished Welsh king. Legend has it that the first person to find him will be granted a wish—either by seeing him open his eyes, or by cutting out his heart.
Blue Sargent, the daughter of the town psychic in Henrietta, Virginia, has been told for as long as she can remember that if she ever kisses her true love, he will die. But she is too practical to believe in things like true love. Her policy is to stay away from the rich boys at the prestigious Aglionby Academy. The boys there—known as Raven Boys—can only mean trouble. When Gansey and his Raven Boy friends come into her life, Blue realizes how true this is. She never thought her fortune would be a problem. But she was wrong.
HOLY COW this looks amazing. I love Steifvater's books and I doubt this will be any exception. The cover is awesome, too. Once again, we get the whole package with Maggie's books. Thanks for sharing this, Leanna!
ReplyDeleteI'm still not sure exactly what this book is about but I am a fan of Maggie's writing. She is definitely creative. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure either, but I reckon it'll be really good! It sounds different from anything I've read before. Can't wait to meet these Raven Boys!
DeleteI think this sounds really interesting, definitely going to be reading it! I love the sound of it

Love the cover! I have a thing for ravens:)
ReplyDeleteI am CRAZY EXCITED for this. I wouldn't even care what it was about, as long as I see Maggie's name on the cover, it's an instant must read for me :D But it DOES sound incredible and I love the cover!! So flipping excited for September!
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the crow--I'm not sure how I feel about that white background, though! But I guess it doesn't matter...I will be reading it anyway. :D

It does sound neat...Stiefvater is an auto-read for me, no matter how the summary reads. (and this one does definitely sound 'different').
ReplyDeleteI thought the cover was freaking awesome. I'm secretly kind of hoping for some Edgar Allan Poe allusions or creepiness because he's kind of the king of Ravens. But it doesn't sound like there will be.
ReplyDeleteAnd the names of her characters... are... interesting?
I've read all of Maggie's other books, wo I'm sure I'll enjoy this one too!

I don't know if I'll read this because it sounds a little out of my comfort zone and not something I'd enjoy, but I LOVE Maggie Stiefvater so I'll wait until it comes out :) Cover is very pretty though :)
ReplyDeleteOOH. I'm intrigued, even though I have no idea what it's about!
ReplyDeleteI still have to read The Scorpio Races, but this is definitely another book by Maggie I'm waiting for. She's a great author:)
