Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly awaited upcoming releases.
Die for Me by Amy PlumPublisher: HarperTeen (US) Atom (UK)Release date: May 2011.
When Kate Mercier’s parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life—and memories—behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.
Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate’s guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he’s a revenant—an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.
In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.
Die for Me is definitely one of my most anticipated books of 2011. I'm already in love with it's glorious setting - Paris is one of my favourite cities, and in Vincent, I am already sensing a new book crush. He definitely sounds like he has potential. Also, this book has some of the most beautiful covers I've seen. I fell in love with the US cover a while back, and now I'm swooning over the UK cover too. Hmmm...I just may have to buy one of each!
Which cover do you prefer?
Let me know what you think, and share your WoW picks in comments! :)
* Please Note: The UK cover was originally posted on Amy Plum's blog. It's the cover for the UK ARC and may be subject to change.
I was already in love with the US cover. UK cover is even more stunning! Comparing the two, UK cover wins for me.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this book - and how awesome are both covers. I think I'd get both versions just because I love the covers that much :)
ReplyDeleteOh, this sounds really good! I like both covers but slightly prefer the US one even though it reminds me of the Lady of Shalott (the UK one does a better job of showing she is in Paris rather than some medieval setting). Great pick!
ReplyDeleteanxious about this one too and I like the US cover best despite the fact that the UK does show more of the setting. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteI adore the cover. Adding it to my ever increasing wishlist :D
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this! I love the UK cover more even though they are both beautiful. I have a friend who has already read this and she it is amazing :)
ReplyDelete@Nic - your friend is lucky! I don't know anyone who's read this one yet!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of those situations where I can't decide between covers. I love the girl on the boat for the US cover, but I also love how the UK cover is red and a little easier to see.

I prefer the USA cover but the UK one is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI gotta say I'm a fan of the UK one (and live in the US, so phooey). I think it leaves more to the reader's imagination (and any movie adaptations!) if the character's face isn't on the cover.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful covers...This book sounds awesome!! :)
