It has been far too long since I've participated in a blog hop (July to be exact -eek!) Earlier this week I was looking through the list of blogs I follow, and I discovered that quite a few of them haven't updated in a long time, so I need new blogs to follow! I love finding new blogs, and if I follow your blog, I will make an effort to comment on your reviews. Sometimes I think reviews lack a little comment love, so I like to try.
If you are stopping by from the blog today, and decide to follow my blog, please leave your link in comments, and I will return the favour.
While you're here, why not check out the two great competitions I'm hosting right now. All details can be found in the sidebar. Happy hopping!
This blog hop is hosted at Crazy-for-Books and this week Jennifer would like to know:
"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"
My answer is: Most definitely! I couldn't start a series without having read the first title. I'm big on getting to know characters, and that usually happens in the first book. I could not start a series without knowing all the background info. Picking up a series somewhere in the middle just wouldn't appeal to me at all.
Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI always have to start with the fist in the series. Like you said, its important to get to know the characters and their background first.

ReplyDeleteI would agree and start on the first book of the series, too!

ReplyDeleteLove the reviews I've read on here so far. Have a great weekend.
Hopping through and now following you! I try not to read a series out of order. There have been a few times (accidentally of course) but each book stood alone. Whew!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and following. I am now following you too. looks like you read similar stuff to me, i look forward to reading more of your reviews.
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for visiting my blog! I really appreciate you reading and commenting on my book review- I'm a little frustrated because I feel like people only read my memes, and the book reviews are the REAL reason I have a blog! Anyways- it's a wonderful book, and I hope you like it!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower! Hi! I'm enjoying the hop lol You can find me blogging daily here http://blog.juliealindsey.com/ stop by, hang out. Love your site. I've been here wayyyy too long!:/
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! I'm now following :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
ReplyDeletedoesn't run chronologically.
That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.
On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.
Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

ReplyDeleteIn my dark, dark past, I read series books out of order all the time. Now that I've started my own book blog, however, I've decided that, in order to give a book its due, I have to read it as the author intended. So, I've reformed my ways.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower, but I'd love it if you'd check out my blog.

That's so true! The first book of a series introduces the cast of characters and without it, I've found that it's pretty easy to get lost. I'm an old follower and just stopping by to say hello--and thank you for stopping by my blog! :D
ReplyDeleteHope you've been having an amazing weekend!
