The Replacement is coming up soon on my TBR, and it's a book I've heard lots of good things about already. The trailer just went went up on Simon & Schuster UK's Youtube channel today, and it's very eerie indeed! If you've already read the book, I'd love to know what you thought!
The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff.Publisher: Simon & Schuster UK.Release date: January 6th 2011.Age group: 12+
Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.
Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.
I bought the book recently. It does seem deliciously creepy.I love the Tim Burton-ish feel of the book.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy this book, it wasn't quite as creepy as I thought it would be, but I loved the overall message. Can't wait to see what you think Leanna!
ReplyDeleteDying to read this one -- thanks for the trailer!
ReplyDeleteI like this trailer. I want to read this book too. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, nice trailer. I liked the book. You can read my review here. I can't wait to see what you think. If you want, I'll link my review to yours when you're done.
ReplyDeleteIs that the UK cover? Huh. I don't like that half as much as the US one, even though the latter gives me the creeps - this one looks kinda generic paranormal YA. The trailer looks fantastic, though and I want to read it.
ReplyDeleteOh I am also dying to read this one. It kind of reminds me of one of The Stolen Child - one of my favourite books of all time. I have to say that I prefer the US cover to the UK cover though, still, I reckon this is going to be a pretty awesome read!
ReplyDeleteI've read a few mixed reviews of this one, but the synopsis and trailer are good enough for me...this one is still near the top of my wishlist!!
ReplyDelete@Katie - I wasn't wowed by either of the covers either, but the UK cover looks quite nice in reality. I'm not into blonde guys though, so he doesn't do anything for me! ;-)
