Alex:
17-year-old Alex has dark hair and blue-grey eyes, strong features, and a medium build with firm, toned muscles. He’s extremely good-looking, though doesn’t have much awareness of this. Often mistaken for being older than he is, Alex is mature beyond his years. An expert Angel Killer, he faces danger on a daily basis without becoming fazed by it, though doesn’t deal well with things not going to plan. He’s lived an adult life for most of his teenage years, and has a jaded, slightly cynical view of the world. To those who don’t know him, he can come across as brusque; to his friends he is easy-going and relaxed, with a good sense of humour.
Canadian actor Corey Sevier was a strong contender for the role of Alex, but in the end I had to go with Sean Faris (Never Back Down, Forever Strong), whose chiselled features and general air of danger fit Alex to at ‘t’. OK, so he’ll have to wear contact lenses to get the eye colour right, but I think we can all live with that!
Willow:
16-year-old Willow is petite and slim, with long, wavy blonde hair, green eyes and elfin features. She’s very attractive in a somewhat offbeat way; pretty rather than beautiful. Confident within herself, Willow has little need to go along with her peers in her small New York town – who see her as ‘Queen Weird’ for her preference for vintage clothing, ability to fix cars, and her psychic abilities. The latter have allowed Willow to experience many walks of life besides her own, so although she’s a bit naïve in a way – she tends to believe the best of people –at the same time she’s very accepting of the quirks and foibles of others, and gives off a calm, soothing vibe. Though Willow isn’t aware of it at first, she’s actually a half-angel.
Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!) was the hands-down winner for the role of Willow. Her look is perfect – and I think that she and Sean Faris together will definitely generate some sparks!
Raziel:
In his human form Raziel the angel is as extremely attractive as are all angels; he’s tall and slim, with black hair and a poetic, sensitive look to him. He is actually ruthlessly ambitious, selfish, and cares nothing at all for the humans in our world – they are there to be used, so far as he’s concerned.
Peter Facinelli (Twilight) has just the look of angelic beauty with a touch of deviousness to it that’s needed for the role of Raziel. Plus he must be getting tired of playing a blond vampire by now, so I’m sure he’ll be delighted to accept! ;-)
Beth:
17-year-old Beth is the golden girl at the small high school which she and Willow both attend. She is Miss Perfect: poised and beautiful, a straight-A student, and head of every club and committee going. In fact, though, Beth is only so perfect because she’s too frightened not to be; her seeming poise hides an extreme insecurity. Beth also has a secret which no one knows, and when it comes out, it is the catalyst of the story – events beyond anyone’s control are soon set into deadly motion.AnnaSophia Robb (Race to Witch Mountain) is perfect for the role: beautiful and elegant, but with just a hint that perhaps all is not what it seems beyond her outer poise.
I love the cast picks for Angel. Us bloggers often do posts like this, but it's great to get some author insight, don't you think? I especially love Lee's picks for Alex (hottie!) and Willow - while I was reading the book I imagined a different actress in the role, but I have to say that Amanda Seyfried is just perfect!
What do you think?
Check out Empire of Books tomorrow for the next stop on the tour, when you'll get to find out about L.A Weatherly's Angel road trip!
I love this post! It's great to see who the author would cast - and, well, I have to say heeelllooo Alex!
ReplyDeleteFab post and I agree...Yum Alex! In fact they're all spot on!
ReplyDeleteGreat cast choices ! Makes me even more interested in the book. I like the choice for Alex....hmm..
ReplyDeleteooooh! Great choices, they all look like they fit the descriptions perfectly. I'm curious now about reading this book. =)
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with Sean Faris. I'd love to see him as Alex!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cast! i haven't heard of this book, i need to check into it!!
ReplyDeleteI love those picks. I have not read the book, but if a movie would be made with those actors I would go see it in a hearbeat. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! would love to see the movie.
ReplyDeleteW. O. W.
ReplyDeleteIf this was a film and these people were in it, I would *die*
Sean Faris as Alex?! PERFECT.
:D
Ooh Yummy. I love the guy who is cast as Alex. And would definitely go watch the movie if he was starring in it. :) Now I really have to read this book.
ReplyDeleteOh okaaay! OOMMG I'm going to re-read Angel with Sean as my Alex and I'll prolly drown myself in droool!
ReplyDelete@Dwayne - I laughed so much at the drowning in drool comment. lol! :D
ReplyDeleteOMG these are PERFECT picks...just perfect and as I'm halfway through reading, I know who I'm going to be picturing now.
ReplyDeletewhen is it becoming a movie?????
ReplyDeletethe book is utterly amazing i loved it. you should check out my review i did on Angel here is the link http://poetrymusicandeverydaythings.blogspot.com/2011/01/book-review-angel.html
ReplyDeleteThere isn't an actual movie - this is just the ideal cast the author would pick for a possible movie!
ReplyDeleteoh okay thanks :)
ReplyDeletewow i love the cast list! i do hope that they make 'Angel' inot a film that would be awesome!!! alex is h-o-t - great choice!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing picks! I love who L.A picked for Alex & Raziel. Not to sure on the Willow pick but still good. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the cast, I hope someone actually makes it a movie, I would definitely go see it!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate being the first negative comment! But I have to say, in my head AnnaSophia was Willow...and then it changed. I just think Willow and Alex are too old though they do kinda look the part. Sorry!
ReplyDeletei love the post and i couldnt agree more
ReplyDeleteI have read the first two books, and can honestly say that I completely agree with you! Amanda Seyfried is completely perfect for the job, as are the rest of the cast. I always imagined Alex being slightly different, and probably still will, though I think he is a very good pick as well! The series is fantastic, isn't it? I can't wait for the last in the trilogy!
ReplyDeleteMe too!! I love this series! :)
ReplyDeletei love the book and olso this cast. and yes, Alex is great ;) i'm now waiting for the third book!
ReplyDeleteOMG, so when i finished reading Angel Burn I decided to go on line and look for characters that i thought would look like Willow, Alex, Beth, Raziel, and Miranda. Once i found those pictures I saved them on Word Document. Then just about 2 week later i find this website and look at L.a. Weatherly's dream cast. Well i picked the exacted same pictures as L.a Wearthly chose for Willow, Beth, and Raziel. But Alex i found i different picture for which i think my picture that i found looks cuter.
ReplyDeleteWho is your Alex???
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI think Logan Lerman when his hair is done up right and he has a straight face fits it more.
This one...
ReplyDeleteAnd Lily collins with long blonde hair like this picture. She is more to the character of Willow. I couldn't agree more with Raziel though. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteor...
ReplyDeletei dontlike the way willow looks
ReplyDeletei think Alex should be Nicholas Hoult bacause he has dark hair blue eyes and is really tall he just looks exacly like Alex, but Logan Lerman would be also great though .. :) but the rest is perfect!! :)
ReplyDeleteomg when i was reading Angel i imagined willow looking like Amanda Seyfried wow cant wait for the movie :)
ReplyDeleteI've read angel and I think that the book will be better but great cast! HMMMMM RAZIEL ;3
ReplyDeleteI would love to see new actors spring into action not already ones who are famous. I would like L.A. Weatherly to do auditions because people might be interested in doing the roles, such as me, to act the characters. I would love to try out as Willow and I know I can do a great job doing her character, plus I have read the books so I know what the story is about.
ReplyDeleteIm probably going to be the only one that thinks this but, I think it would be really refreshing if Willow was played by a 'Nobody' I don't think Amanda is the right pick at all, my best friend looks exactly like how I would imagine Willow to be even though she isn't petite, she even does drama at school and is really talented (even though we live in the UK) but still Peter Facinelli as Raziel is a perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteawesome cast but who would play seb ??
ReplyDeleteThis post was done after the first book so we hadn't met Seb yet. I think the author might have done a Seb casting post on another blog a while back...I can't remember which blog, though.
ReplyDeletei think annasophia robb should be willow. she seems more innocent and that what comes across when i think of willow (to me) and then amanda seyfried should be beth
