Waiting on Wednesday #8 - Cum Laude by Cecily Von Ziegesar.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly awaited upcoming releases.

Cum Laude - Cecily Von Ziegesar
Hyperion Books.
Hardcover, 272 pages.
Release date: June 1st 2010.

Dexter College is a small liberal arts college in the quiet town of Home, Maine. But it won’t stay quiet for long with this new group of freshmen. There’s Shipley—blond, and beautiful, the object of envy and more than a little lust. Her edgy roommate, Eliza, has an attitude and a mouth to match. There’s Tom, the artist/jock, and Nick, his pot-smoking roommate. Adam, the introvert, lives at home with his parents and not-so-little sister. And finally there’s the requisite older guy who never quite left school...

Cum Laude is a witty, intimate, and unconventional take on the coming-of-age story. College is about more than just cramming and keg parties. It’s about doing things you’d never imagine yourself doing because you’re madly in love, stuck in the middle of nowhere, and may have just taken a mind-altering substance.

I've wanted to post this as my WoW for quite a while, but the final cover wasn't released until quite recently for some reason. I'm a fan of Gossip Girl, the TV show (never read the books).  I think this will be a fun summer read.  I generally love coming-of-age tales.  This is being published for an adult audience, but I reckon it's something that older teens might like too.

  10. Thanks for checking out my WoW! I was a fan of the Gossip Girl series for the first two seasons but then I stopped watching it. I borrowed the books from a friend when I was in college and I have to say that the TV show is better for me.
