From Book to Screen: The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein.

This week I noticed that my 2010 review of The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein has been receiving a lot of hits and I wondered why. Turns out the movie of the book is hitting theaters soon, and I guess people are curious as to what the book is all about. Or maybe everybody is just wondering if Ernessa is really a vampire! The Moth Diaries is billed as as vampire novel set at an all-girls boarding school, and it may be just that, or it may be something else entirely. You'll just have to read it and find out!

What The Moth Diaries  is a wonderfully atmospheric read, and while it's not a perfect book by any means, its one that will play on your mind long after you've finished it. It's unsettling, gothic and haunting and contains the most ambiguous of endings which will leave you with a lot of questions.

The movie stars Sarah Bolger as the narrator (here called Rebecca - she is never named in the book) and Lily Cole as mysterious new girl Ernessa. If you're planning on checking out the movie, why not check out the book too. I'm planning on re-reading it before I see the movie. I'll be very interested to see how this one transfers to the big screen!

Have you read The Moth Diaries? What are your thoughts on the book, and will you be checking out the movie?

You can see the movie poster and watch the trailer below.

Yeah, the ending was a surprise. I'm a little shady on the details now - it's been a while since I read it. Definitely needs a re-read before I see the movie!

I love the trailer! The book is very slow moving at times. In a way, I think this one will work better on screen!

  13. Oh gosh, that gave me the chills.

I'm too much of a wimp for that sort of story heading to the big screen. And I think that's Sarah Bolger playing the narrator...

Definitely nightmare-worthy. I can only imagine how terrifying that book must be. *LOL* I'm actually pretty creeped out xD
