HarperTeen & NetGalley team up- it's a match made in book heaven!

Just thought I'd share this exciting piece of news with you! I've been a big fan of NetGalley ever since I started blogging. They have some great pre-release books on there, and even better all their galleys are available to international bloggers. Now, NetGalley has teamed up with HarperTeen, and you should see the titles on offer. Amazing!  If this doesn't make me invest in an ereader, nothing will! Actually, I don't know why I've put it off for so long. I already know what ereader I want to buy - I did a post about it on here a while back. Now I think it's going to happen!

Check out the full list of titles available: here

I've added a couple of some of the top titles available.  I'm most excited for The Lying Game and Delirium.  If they added Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting, I'd be their BFF forever!

*Edited to add: So I've heard that a lot of bloggers are being declined for these galleys. I guess they are getting a lot of requests from them, and not everyone can get them. I suggest you have all your NetGalley info up to date - full profile filled in. Other than that, I can't offer much advice. I haven't requested any of these titles yet. I don't know if the best thing is to get in there fast and try to get a galley or to wait it out until the hype dies down. Good luck everyone!

The Lying Game by Sara Shepard.
Release date: December 7th 2010.

New York Times bestselling author Sara Shepard’s new series weaves a mystery of long-lost twins, mistaken identities, a duplicitous circle of friends, and cold-blooded murder. Combining juicy plot lines, to-die-for lifestyles, a tangled web of friendship and romance, magnetic characters, and sharp-witted narration from the afterlife, The Lying Game is an alluring cross between Pretty Little Liars and The Lovely Bones.

Foster kid Emma Paxton has only just discovered Sutton Mercer, the wealthy twin sister she never knew she had, when Sutton drops off the face of the earth, asking Emma to cover for her at home, school, and with her friends—just for a few days. At first Emma enjoys trying on her sister’s fabulous life: her fiercely loyal friends, her adoring boyfriend, her close-knit family. But as Emma is drawn deeper into Sutton’s world she finds the friends are not so fabulous, the boyfriend is not who she wants to be with, and the family is clinging to long-buried secrets and a veneer of functionality. And worst of all, Sutton may not be coming back. In fact, someone may have made sure she never could…and that someone knows Emma is not who she claims to be. Emma will need all her wits to survive The Lying Game.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Release date: February 1st 2011

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -the deliria- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton
Release date: February 15th 2011

When seventeen-year-old Ellie starts seeing reapers - monstrous creatures who devour humans and send their souls to Hell - she finds herself on the front lines of a supernatural war between archangels and the Fallen and faced with the possible destruction of her soul.

A mysterious boy named Will reveals she is the reincarnation of an ancient warrior, the only one capable of wielding swords of angelfire to fight the reapers, and he is an immortal sworn to protect her in battle. Now that Ellie's powers have been awakened, a powerful reaper called Bastian has come forward to challenge her. He has employed a fierce assassin to eliminate her - an assassin who has already killed her once.

While balancing her dwindling social life and reaper-hunting duties, she and Will discover Bastian is searching for a dormant creature believed to be a true soul reaper. Bastian plans to use this weapon to ignite the End of Days and to destroy Ellie's soul, ending her rebirth cycle forever. Now, she must face an army of Bastian's most frightening reapers, prevent the soul reaper from consuming her soul, and uncover the secrets of her past lives - including truths that may be too frightening to remember.

There's also a lot of other great teen titles on there (Unearthly by Cynthia Hand is one I'll be checking out) and a couple of adult titles from HarperCollins that I'm interested in reading. The new novel from Jessica Anya Blau, Drinking Closer to Home, sounds good.

Have you used NetGalley before? What did you think?

  3. I've just learned about NetGalley and I'm so excited. I'm a middle school librarian and HUGE YA lit fan. I've started a book blog but am new to it all so I'm just starting to figure things out. Thanks for the info here!

  4. @Ella - I don't think they've sent out an email yet. I just happened to catch it on twitter.

@Christina- What ereader did you get?

@hmz - Glad to help. I'll check out your blog! :)

  7. I saw this and am now also seriously thinking of investing in an E-reader! Love the fact that NetGalley is available to International readers as well. :) Yay - thanks for sharing this news!

  8. I was declined, but saw a blogger with 6 followers who was approved. I don’t get it *shrugs*

  9. @Christie - that's really weird! I'm thinking now that maybe they only have a certain number to give out and it's on a first, come first served basis?

It could also depend on the popularity of the book you requested I guess.

  10. We both requested the same title. Maybe she was faster than me LOL

  11. Freak - I have to request some!

  12. I requested 5 titles: Angelfire, Delirium, The Lying Game, Unearthly, Once in a New Moon. They rejected every single one. :'( Maybe if I add that I'm an international reader and can appeal to a niche audience where there isn't as much hype for these books, or something like that, I'd have more of a chance? XD I requested yesterday, or the day before. Sad.

  13. @Cass - oh no! Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure if the international reader angle will help, but you could try. Let me know if you hear back. Wow! There must be so many people requesting these!

  14. Woah! I was declined as well. I wish I knew what exactly they were looking for.*sad*

  15. I've only had one previous book from Netgalley a while ago but I requested Delerium yesterday and was accepted! I started it last night and love it! Reading on my laptop isn't perfect but I'm actually surprised it isn't as awful as I thought. I'm hoping an ereader makes it was to my christmas stocking though this year!

  16. To the folks who were declined, please make sure you've filled out your NetGalley profile with all your blog info. We will try to approve as many book bloggers as we can, but we've had to decline many people who have not included their blog's name and URL.

  17. I requested six of their titles, and was declined all of them, and my info is all up to date :(

  18. I was declined, but I'd only requested one in a YA subgenre that fit my blog's general interest (there were a couple and I'm backlogged with other books from pubs - but this one looked terrific and I couldn't resist).

I had all my info filled in (blog, Ammy reviewer info [top 1500], FB and Twitter) and suppose that I was declined because either I wasn't a good YA fit or because I just haven't had my blog back up long enough. It'd been down for a while and I only just started it, so, eh.

We'll see if any of my regular HarperCollins requests go through to see if there's any love for me, lol.

  19. Okay, so these titles look fabulous! I tried NegGalley once and I thought it seemed like a great way to read review titles. I don't find it easy to read on my computer though, so I think if I'm going to really get into NetGalley I'm going to need a Kindle.

  20. I got declined for Delirium, too. I'm trying to update my profile info, but I keep getting hung up when trying to enter my URL. The site keeps insisting I give it my company name. I don't have a company; I'm just a book blogger! :P Oh, well.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was so thrilled to find this out just yesterday and I have made my requests! *fingers crossed*

    ReplyDelete
  22. @ LA Coccinelle - I just have n/a where my company name should be, but if you think you're getting declined because of that, put your blog name in there.

    @ Kelli - Good luck! :)

  23. I was so excited about this!. I've really been wanting to read a lot of the books.

  24. This is so exciting! Going to NetGalley now...

  25. Leana---that was Natalie commenting as me earlier...I just read my previous comment and was freaking out because I didn't remember writing that. I was hoping I haven't been sleep-blogging, but then remembered Nat told me she commented as me because she wasn't able to sign out on several blogs. :)

  26. I have also been declined on multiple titles. Not really sure why...I have a lot of followers on my blog and am a top Amazon reviewer that features YA and urban fantasy/paranormal.

Ah well, I guess I will keep trying. Really wanted to get my hands on Afterlife by Claudia Grey, guess I might have to wait for it to come out next year :-(

  27. Thanks for this information. I don't know if it will be useful for me at the moment as my blog is pretty new but it will be great for the future.

  28. Sooo excited about this! I love Harper titles and this partnership made my year!

  29. How can you tell if your request has been declined? Does it come up in the status?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Alice - As far as I know you get an email saying you've been declined. Make sure you have all your info filled out in the profile section. Good luck! :)

  31. Okay, thanks for your help :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. No problem! It might take a few days to get approved, by the way - especially if you requested over the weekend. :)

  33. Thanks, I did wonder what the normal length of time it took to get a response. Thank you. That is extremely helpful :)
