Waiting on Wednesday #10 - Prophecy of the Sisters & Guardian of the Gate by Michelle Zink.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights eagerly awaited upcoming releases.

Prophecy of the Sisters (Prophecy of the Sisters #1)
ATOM (UK)
Paperback, 352 pages.
Release date: August 5th 2010.
Target Age Group: Young Adult.

Sixteen-year-old Lia Milthorpe and her twin sister Alice have just become orphans, and, as Lia discovers, they have also become enemies. The twins are part of an ancient prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other. To escape from a dark fate and to remain in the arms of her beloved boyfriend James, Lia must end the prophecy before her sister does. Only then will she understand the mysterious circumstances of her parents' deaths, the true meaning of the strange mark branded on her wrist, and the lengths to which her sister will go to defeat her. Debut novelist Michelle Zink takes readers on an unforgettable journey where one sister's fateful decision could have an impact of Biblical proportions. Prophecy of the Sisters is the first of three books.

Guardian of the Gate  (Prophecy of the Sisters #2)
ATOM (UK)
Paperback, 352 pages.
Release date: August 5th 2010.
Target Age Group: Young Adult.

The ultimate battle between sisters is nearing, and its outcome could have catastrophic consequences. As sixteen year-old Lia Milthorpe searches for a way to end the prophecy, her twin sister Alice hones the skills she'll need to defeat Lia. Alice will stop at nothing to reclaim her sister's role in the prophecy, and that's not the only thing she wants: There's also Lia's boyfriend James.

Lia and Alice always knew the Prophecy would turn those closest to them against them. But they didn't know what betrayal could lead them to do. In the end, only one sister will be left standing.

I know that Prophecy of the Sisters is not a new release, but it is for me as I decided to wait for the paperback release of this one.  In a way I'm glad I did,  as I love the sound of Prophecy and this means I won't have a long tortuous wait for the sequel!  If you've already read the first book, let me know what you thought of it, and be sure to share your WoW links in comments.

  11. Okay, this is going to sound really bad, but I never read the first one because I hated the cover. I love the UK cover. Makes me want to read the book. Sad, huh? That shouldn't make a difference.
